Randy joined RSR in August 2019 for the opportunity to work in real estate and learn the art of appraising. Until his retirement in April 2018, he was Vice President, Support Services/Real Estate for Geisinger Health System, following 20 years as VP for Holy Spirit Health System before its acquisition by Geisinger.
In the course of his career, Randy has been responsible for property management, property acquisition, construction, materials management, environmental services, food and nutrition, safety and risk management within the complex health care sector. He managed transformation of the Holy Spirit campus to include construction of a 140,000-square-foot heart center, 40,000-square-foot emergency department and 25,000-square-foot data center, and urgent care facility.
Randy believes in customer service.
“You’re in service to people,” he says. “Whatever you’re asked to do, you need to do. You treat people with kindness and respect, and it goes a long way. People appreciate that, and it’s what we all expect.”
After he retired from Geisinger, Randy found plenty to do around his East Pennsboro Township home, applying the carpentry and handyman skills he learned from his dad. He built a garden fence and workbenches, happy to step away from meetings and daily pressure – for a while.
“Working with my hands was good therapy, but at some point, I ran out of things to do,” he recalls. “I can’t sit around and do nothing.”
His purchase of some investment properties introduced him to a realtor who encouraged him to get his real estate license. He worked for one other Harrisburg-area real estate firm until RSR CEO Jim Koury – a trusted partner in many real estate deals -- suggested he join the team.
Randy especially appreciated the offer from RSR’s Jim Koury, Bill Rothman, and Greg Rothman to help him learn the appraisal side of the business, while also conducting commercial and residential sales.
“I’m very grateful for this opportunity with RSR,” Randy says. “This is my chance to use the expertise I have and build on it by learning new skills.”
With his years of property management, real estate acquisition, and construction oversight, Randy can guide commercial and residential clients through the “process-laden” buying and selling experience.
Randy grew up in Carlisle and Hummelstown. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Penn State University, and an MBA from Lebanon Valley College.
