AGENT PROFILE
Dede Rothman brings a seasoned decorator's eye, an experienced mother's multi-tasking, and a people person's magnetism to her new role as an agent for RSR, REALTORS?.
Dede was a devoted stay-at-home mom for her three children-- Niko, Ellie, and Mia, ?for years, but with the encouragement of her son Niko, who once worked at RSR as well, she decided to get her real estate license. In fact, Niko, who now resides in California, did more than encourage ? he signed her up and paid for her classes as a Christmas gift one year, saying, ?Mom, I?m tired of you always saying you should do this!?
Before fulfilling her dream to earn her real estate license, Dede studied interior design at the Art Institute of York, graduating in 2011.
She went on to work at David's Furniture, an upscale home furnishings store, then became an independent interior designer. She took part in the 2015 Harrisburg Symphony Show House, displaying her work alongside the area's other finest designers.
For the past three years, she has also been the selections coordinator for new-home builder, Carlson Construction, choosing everything from interior ceiling lights, paints, tile, grout, faucets, and carpet, to outdoor lights, brick and shingles.
Selling real estate ?is a good match for me to combine my love of real estate and interior design,? she concluded.
In the past, she has also been asked to give her input to RSR clients as a designer, often when a client is having a challenging time finding a home. She understands that many people don't have the ability to look past what's in front of them. ?They may have looked at 20 homes and can't decide.?
But Dede understands, and works with people where they are.
When it comes to both a sense of style and a flair for decorating, "Everyone is different,? she keeps foremost in her mind.
?It is just a matter of me asking lots of questions on my end trying to figure out their tastes. I never want to push my tastes on them. I work with them, I don't pick for them.?
A graduate of Carlisle High School, she finds that Central Pennsylvania affords a medley of picturesque places to wander and explore.
She also loves to travel and visit area wineries.
She embraces central Pennsylvania because it is close to New York, Baltimore, and the beach.
?This area has a lot to offer; there's lots to do and see.?
With two high schoolers at home, "my home seems to be the hub? for her kids? friends.
She loves that RSR does both residential and commercial work, along with appraising, and that they do a lot in the community, both as a group and as individuals.
They do so much for others, from volunteering for the Boys and Girls Club to running the Smith Barney mile, she pointed out.
?Everyone at RSR is willing to help each other. They are always sending out emails asking if anyone needs anything. It's a nice, collegial, supportive atmosphere,? she said.
Home is where her heart is ? and she wants it to be yours, too.
?I want you to be happy and comfortable when you walk in the front door. I want you to be happy to come home to your house every time.?
To her, a beautiful house incorporates lots of personal touches, and memories, like an antique from grandmom, displayed in such a tasteful way that the home is not a museum.
She likes to incorporate everything whether it's quirky, eclectic, or country.
A house should be lived in.? And she'd love to help you live beautifully in yours.
